Spookily, I've lost all contact with Supernao since his jaunt to England to be at Dan/Anarchy+Lemon's wedding. Maybe he caught the bouquet? :) In the meantime, I'm releasing one of his mellowest cuts, a track which I think was originally going to be for the Amiga disc-mag "RAW". Sadly, RAW's dead, so Mono's putting the tune out instead. Enjoy.

Prob. returns, this time on Mono211, with a track originally left off his debut Monotonik release because it was a little more Mono211-inclined. So we waited, and watched.. and put it out on Mono211. This is both tempestuous and practically horizontal at the same time, and sorta fun with it. Oh, congratulations to Prob. for making 7th (as far as we remember!) in the Assembly'98 music competition at the end of July. We completely forgot to mention it before now.. but now we recall. Total recall...

Does the man know no end to his beginning? More wonderfulness from Vim!, to whom this track makes perfect sense, but to the rest of us.. wow. It seems random but it's all completely mapped out on graph paper before he starts. Next to his new inventions, the spaceship and the peanut that reverses time. Could you dance to this? Or just spasm? Heh, who cares? Just listen ;)

Time for the third Monotonik release, and it's another damn original track, this time by Dharma. In any case, it's a great new release, it's "piercing your eardrums at 300m/s", and there's a danger of hospitalisation from the whiplash. So wear your hard hats and enjoy the chaos. :)

The first Mono release by Zyad, our newest member, and it's pretty easy to see how he fits in. Very nicely, as it happens. :) So, we got more downbeat bigbeat pleasures for your cerebellum - just sit up and say thankyou. Although there's definitely some scary, scary static-filled undertones to both these tracks. Be slightly afraid, be very slightly afraid. :)

From the loopy original on Mono comes a slightly more ordered, just as loopy, Monotonik remix, courtesy of Zyad... mm, thanks for making it make.. more sense? As if sense was ever a feeling that's required for living chez Monotonik. Round and round and round it goes, where it stops, nobody knows. Make way for the main contenders..

This time round a visit to the sharper end of the Mono spectrum (no blunted beatz here..), and Substance's knack for the rhythmic but different shines thru. And 'liquid wax' describes the phasing SH-101 bass which is Kuu's trademark pretty well. Watch out for more Substance stuff soon, including tunes previously performed live at raves in Finland, heh. :)

A new EP from the always interesting Subi, and another example of his dense, breakbeat-led style. :) Curiously oldskool but somehow new at the same time - straange. You may, if you wish, try to decode the titles of the tracks too, but we have enough trouble even when he explains them to us. Oh, and doesn't the first track sound curiously like the tune by Static from the Rebels demo "Total Triple Trouble"? And that was about 1991. ;)

Well, Subi tries to confound us again with one of his completely unclassifiable songs, just when we've decided to put our techno output on a sublabel. Thanks _so_ much. ;) This tune definitely rules, but should it go out on Mono or Monotonik? Well, think of it this way - do mad screaming Prodigy-style songs full of guitar get played out more by the Chemical Brothers or the Aphex Twin? Yep, Chemicals every time, and since this is a close relative to jungle and a distant cousin of bigbeat, it...

We be back, and it's a long-awaited guest release from linus/phd. One of mono's favourite artists, linus has gone ahead and donated us a couple of wicked new tracks. We're also re-releasing one of his very best releases on phase distortion ("stoopid interlude"). The reason we're doing this is firstly because we adore the tune, and secondly because we think there's a lot of people who listen to mono who haven't got round to listening to phd yet - so we're giving it a different (wider?)...

Subi returneth after a looong break with this, his first tune not done on a old, old, oldskool Amiga 600. :) Which means, wow, his tunes can be longer than 350k now. :) So he's celebrated with this rather excellent breakbeat tune, again kinda reminiscent of early Prodigy, and with vocals from a certain slumbering band. Shh. :) We like releasing Subi's tracks because they're just a bit.. out there.

For some reason we seem to have managed to make the description of this release sound somewhat like a crossword clue - oh well, no matter. Originally an entry into gc27, this is the 16-bit version of a truly beautiful track by Finnish idm maverick Distance. We should probably point out that it adheres to the Aphex Twin's anagram methods of tune naming, too - clever boy, clever boy. In any case, listen, sway, hum happily, and appreciate.

A return, and an intriguing one, by the Danish duo, where they explore what happens when jungle gets pushed into an echo chamber with some rusty, booming bass. Apparently, this competed in the SymMekka music competition, but I expect the Germans were a bit mystified. :) Still, it's a perfect trick to play on da Mono listening audience and see how they skitter and hide. wot? :)

More wonderfulness that appears to have been unearthed from about 1991 but is in fact brand-new from the mad mind of a Subi on the rampage. :) Also featuring the vocal talents of some particularly crazed period English comedy types, this is vintage daftness. Keep it up up up, mon. This neat little package also comes with a nice cover designed+pixeled by Subi himself - is there no end to peoples' talents round here? Jeez ;)

Yiikes! Some delay but no need to make hay, m211 z00ms back into your area with the majesty of rockhard beats that is ram0ne. youch, watch your bassbins vibrate to this one. ramone has a number of vinyl projects on the go, still, watch the m211 webpage for his profile with info on them, should be coming up soon. but in the meantime he still gets to doing some smart xm-age for us. oh, and he's even behind the guy with the tape ascii we iz currently using. doh, people wot can do more than one...

Back again on the label with the mono and the 2 and the 1 and the 1, it's the finnish groove-god hymn-self with some real chilled jazzy action. why _do_ we like the jazz-chill-groove so much? it's definitely partly to do with the fact we release over the Net, and so people listen at home on their computers.. beats that sound kickass in clubs sometimes sound boring at home, and vice versa, which we think is a mistake a lot of sceners make. but with our forthcoming videogame and vinyl action...

A measure of how top-quality we think Twilight's tune would be the fact that we were actually holding back on releasing it, cos we wanted to try to put it out on vinyl. But that's going to be a while in coming through, and we've got some more MIDI-based stuff to concentrate on trying to get released first, so in the meantime we're going to release this on Mono elektronikally. Enjoy the quality. :)

The boy can't help it, he just can't help it. Apologies from us to Vim! and his fans for not getting these songs out very fast at all - they were tracked much earlier this year. But at least at least they're out, and we guess you should really open wide and say 'aaahh'. Or at least 'ah?' :) Style, grace, Rita Hayworth, all that nice stuff, Vim! has it in spades. So if you've got a heart, let's club together and buy him enough diamonds to jack it all in and live on the Gold Coast forever....

words really don't do this one much justice. it's borderline insane, it's somewhere between the drill, the bass, the ambient, and the headfunk.. it's got those trademark weird-as-hell arpeggios in there, and it's just brilliance. then again, i'm sure we're biased? nonetheless, ridiculously good. hopefully if you're reading this you have it already. if not, go get it, for gawd's sake. heh, over and out.. oh, it's neglected because we didn't release it for a year or more, btw. more fool us :)

Wu-Twanging it into '96, Mortimer Tee shows us how that funky drummer thing is done. Again. What's nice about Mortimer's tunes is that they're original, stylistically. Some cool dub influences, skirting the hiphop/jungle border skilfully, looping and skipping his way to a blunted existence, that's our Mr. Tee. Wonder if he sprung Face from the mental hospital to help him with this effort? :)

If you listen closely, it just makes so much _sense_. castlemortonravekid Subi, fresh from sorting us the new version of da m211 screensaver, blasts us another of his telegrams from A500 space, and it's so.. him. Where else could you get that authentic 1991 flava and the mechtinnytech snarerush that signifies the start of another blastin' subi tune? nowhere else, that's where. when i compared m211's fascination with subi to john peel's fascination with the fall, subi got a bit upset... but do...

When our brainwaves aren't stimulated, we run the risk of becoming brain dead. Substance has negated this risk with his very own minimal response to the question "are we here?". This is possibly the deepest Mono has got into the science of nothing meaning everything - keep listening, you'll understand in the end. maybe.

Ridiculously hot day here at Mono HQ, and a suitably humid and oppressive release to suit it. Dharma comes on strong with a 'Sunstroke Mix' of this excellent downbeat track, complete with weird jazzy inflexions. Perhaps you can see why he's joined up with Mono now? :) We're scared of him, at least. ;P

elvis has entered the building. a little stoned rumble of thunder heralds the return of mortimer tee. here's just one of the succulent new tracks - taking horizontalizm to new heights. horizontal heights, naturally. 'long time no see. here i am, sweet tee'. nice to have you back, good buddy.

After Mono was awfully disappointed to have missed Distance's last EP (released on Tokyo Dawn Records), this time round we caught the wave, and we're proud to present a brand-new set of tracks from him. There's little doubt that he's one of the major talents tracking techno on the music scene right now, and his songs remain constantly unpredictable, stark, suave, and ass-kicking by equal measures. Keep it up, mon. A couple of these tracks even fit on Mono very well (especially "Only My...

A very interesting EP this, sent to us from his sekrit hideaway by Dreamfish in his last dispatch, along with the already-released "Armani's Dreams". These are self-confessedly 'oldskool' jungle tracks, with something of a 1993 spirit about them - but they're actually damn original cos he doesn't sound like he's trying to emulate the Amen b-boy crew. In other words, by going back it goes forward. Amen. :)

It's difficult to find anything to say about this tune, because it's just so.... mmmmm. The drums, the melodies, the style seem to mesh like Sabres of Paradise managed so well on "Smokebelch", and Substance is truly the jewel in Mono's crown. Just you wait til we start releasing his drum n bass tunes, then you'll truly freek out. :) Overstated, us? never. ;)

Another completely original guest-star tune from the 'reclusive' 4T Thieves, stuck out on an island off the South Coast of England making some of the weirdest, most exhileratingly alien MODs I've heard in quite a while. Hear the depth, won't you? Stuck out in the moons of Venus, diving into the seas beneath Saturn, or just chillin' out in your bedroom, Mono takes you out there. Out _there_ :)

Mm, another track by the quiet man himself, and it's another gorgeous one. Mellow trippiness, as they say, doesn't just come by laying down on a lazy afternoon and staking it out. You need to know the slow-motion science of notes not played and places not visited. You need to know when not to.

Our rather dangerous man in Germany, the most blunted Ramone, returns with an intoxicated remix, and isn't it wicked? Wicked in the hellish sense, of course. Check out the original from the Mono archives, way back, and find out how much it's changed. Which is a lot. We're sorry, are we boring you? :) Great tune tho. :)

Another Saturday, another supadupa Mono release hits ya, and this time it's England vs. Scotland in the football and Dreamfish vs. Paula on your Amiga. Guess who wins? :) I can't say much else but confirm that Dreamfish is one of the very best 4-channel dance musicians in the world today, woowoo. And there's still lots and lots more Dreamfish tunes to be released, so keep on keeping on the Mono frequency. Ballistic fatalistic animalistic. ;) We've been keeping off the drum n bass recently, but...
